Humpty Dumpty

A quick break down of what you thought was just a nursery rhyme.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the King's horses and all the King's men,
couldn't put Humpty together again.

"Humpty Dumpty had a great fall"... "For we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). We are humans, we sin. It is an inevitable part of our daily lives. Whether little white lies such as "No honey, those jeans do not make you look fat", to speeding and running a red light.

The last two lines of Humpty Dumpty are a kick in the gut, at least it is for me. Say I wanted to learn how to cook, would I go ask the cook's secretary for cooking advice? No, I would go to the cook himself. Same goes for Humpty... If Humpty wanted to be healed why in the world would you go the the King's horses and the King's men, when you could just go the King himself?

We all need to seek first the kingdom of God and put our trust in his holy name that we are healed (Psalms 9:10 & Matthew 6:33), healed in heath, liberated from sin, at peace with our pains, ect. Humpty was led astray as most of us have been at some part of our lives and believe in the healing of man opposed to the creator of man. God is the doctor or all doctors, provider of all providers, and the giver of all givers. He is always near and will never abandon us. It is our choice to turn to him in not just times of trail but also in the blessed moments in life. As in Psalms 23:4 we may walk through times of trial we must not fear because God is there to comfort us.

Do not fear, God is here.

Leaving the Light On.

I try to be short, sweet, and to the point on most everything in my life. That is, everything that has nothing to do with my emotional well being. I was taught as a child to walk it off. Pick your self up and dust yourself off. There was never any other option and no plan. This train of thought has done me well for twenty years, but I think its time for a change.

Proverbs 3:5 reads "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."

I may occasionally act like I know it all, but lets be honest. Can I be honest here? I know nothing. Well, I know how to make business plans and how to make you want to buy something that you truly don't need (Marketing major). And quite frankly this will get me no where in my eternal life. I can't imagine trying to market anything to a group of people who already have the greatest gift ever created.

In the last few weeks I have been taught that trust is an on or off issue, no grey areas allowed. Nick Callaway related it to a light switch, on or off. I find myself playing the childish role of trying to get the light switch to balance perfectly in the middle where it creates just enough light to see. This mentality has gotten me nowhere real fast in the past few months of my life and with out a doubt, it's gotta change.

Application Station:
Funny things happen when the lights are turned on. You can see just about everything. The good, the bad, the ugly, the hidden, and the feared. But if I am going to trust him with everything, I need to be able to see everything. He created it, he knows how to deal with it. Even when the sun is out and everything seems crystal clear in my life, there are still things hidding in the shadows. So for the rest of my life, I'm leaving the light on.
